Vision
The Nursing Section of WADEM strives to be the organizational vehicle welcoming and representing nurses from all countries with an intent and desire to strengthen and improve the practice and knowledge of disaster nursing.
Mission
The proposed mission of the Nursing Section of WADEM is to foster collaboration among nurses involved in research, education, management, and practice in prehospital, emergency, public health, and/or disaster health care.
Purpose
The purposes of the Nursing Section of WADEM are to:
- Define nursing issues for public health care and disaster health care;
- Exchange scientific and professional information relevant to the practice of disaster nursing;
- Encourage collaborative efforts enhancing and expanding the field of nursing disaster research;
- Encourage collaboration with other nursing organizations;
- Inform and advise WADEM of matters related to disaster nursing.
Online Research Repository
To promote research activity within the WADEM Nursing Section, a repository of research of projects of and for our members has been established. This repository is aimed to be a way that nurses within WADEM can disseminate their research which is currently being undertaken or completed. In the long term, it is hoped that the information contained within the repository will be used by members to get in contact with each other, collaborate, and talk.
All members of the nursing section are invited to share their research projects. Please submit your projects to the research repository.
Collaboration
The Nursing Section of WADEM is continuing the work of the Nursing Emergency Preparedness Education Coalition (NEPEC), originally named the International Nursing Coalition for Mass Casualty Education from 2001 to 2007. This coalition was coordinated by the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing until 2010. The platform was international best practice emergency preparedness and disaster response education. More information on NEPEC can be found via the following link:
