WADEM Task Forces and Committees

Charges to the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine:

The following tasks assigned to the WADEM by the 5th Asia-Pacific Conference on Disaster Medicine include (but not limited to):

Develop White Papers on disaster: a) Management; b) Health and Public Health in Disasters; c) Education and Training; d) Research; e) Psychosocial Aspects; and f) Plans;
Establishment of Task Forces on terrorism, landmines, and emerging infections;
Develop standardized evaluation tools;
Develop and make available a disaster medicine resource list;
Evolve a standardized template for the assessment of medical needs;
Development of a standardized curriculum for disaster health and management;
Create an information and data clearing house; and
Provide courses on applied disaster research

The World Health Organization (WHO) suggested that WADEM provide:

Consultation to WHO as needed;
Facilitate access to educational programs;
Link relevant websites;
Produce a glossary of terminology;
Standardize curricula;
Coordinate training activities;
Develop an inventory of indicators; and
Assist with the development of a standardized set of applied tools for data collection in the field.

WADEM Task Forces: In order to participate in a Task Force or Committee, you must be a member of the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine. The current charge to the Chairs of each of the Task Forces is to prepare an issues paper as to what are the main issues within the sphere of their respective Task Force.
